Stone steps at the side of the property lead to the first floor with two bedrooms, living room and large Kitchen. Sea views from the living room and one bedroom are spectacular, across the olive groves and indigenous forest land and the Corfu channel to the beautiful wetlands and lakes of Albania, backed by magnificent mountain ranges.
On ground level is the traditional store room, originally used for wine, olives and home produce. A large area, which lends itself perfectly to conversion. (Our design suggestion is to convert the ground floor to large Mediterranean style kitchen dining room – with internal staircase to the first floor – and the kitchen into a full sized bathroom) Traditional features include - massive double doors set in rough marble surround, flagstone floor and heavy wooden beams, all in good condition and easily restored to their former glory, making this property an absolute gem at a very affordable price.
At the front of the house is a vine covered area, traditional in old villages, to take refuge from the sun. A communal stone walkway separates the house from the garden below, where two old stone buildings could also be converted to provide additional accommodation or large workshop.
This area of Mengoulas is currently undergoing a Leader Project restoration – repairing all of the old stone walk ways, walls and steps.
The road ends at these houses and there is no passing traffic.
